Embroidering in candle light…

We experienced a long power outage due to damaged connection wires. It happened because heavy rain with fast winds which is a result of active monsoon to our country. So I enjoyed some candle light nights. J I tried to embroider in candle light somewhat successful… more success on photography ;) actually I ended up photographing candles J

Effect was beautiful when candle is on a plain white ceramic tile..

I'm busy these days since i was looking after my ill mother and had to travel 4hours back and forth from my parents home to work.Now she is fully recovered. Still no time to embroider... But nice flowers are in garden ...

A case to hold a sewing project –PART 2

Step 1: Plan the placement of the items in the case. Example bellow…

Step 2: Attach items to material parts cut for inside according to the plan other than the pincushion.

Step 3: place material cut for outside right side up on a table. Place the opened zipper around sides of the material having start end at the center of one side of material and end of the zipper at other side as bellow.

Step 4: Place material parts cut for inside right side down on the zipper and material cut for outside then pin it.

Step 5: sew around the four sides. And turn the right sides up.

 Step 6: insert the diary cover into the sewed case using open in the middle of sewed case as bellow.

Step 7: sew the open sides tougher.

A case to hold a sewing project –PART 1

This sewing case is very effective and efficient specially for carrying sewing projects while traveling.

We need a hard cover of an old diary in any size you want your case to be. I used size of regular exercise book.

A zipper in the size to cover three sides of the diary cover.

Hard cloth material like linen

See through material like organza for pockets

6 inches long elastic tape

Make these beforehand

1. A little pincushion – I made a one in the size of 2*2 inches

2. A little zippered pocket – I made a one in the size of 4*6 inches

3. A case for your pair of scissors – triangle cover

Cut material as follows:

Measure the diary case. Add an inch of sewing space.

Let’s take diary case x inches long and y inches wide with an inch of sewing space.

1. One piece of x*y inches for outside of the case.

2. Two pieces of half of x inches by y inches for inside of the case.

3. Pieces for pockets from Organza.

Progress of peacock embroidery

Body of the peacock is done using long short stitch which didn't come out very good, but going to make do with it.

And feathers are started again with bullion stitch…
