Trip to Laya leisure Kukuleganga.

Last weekend I was at Laya leisure Kukuleganga adventure hotel (http://www.kkgholidayresort.com/) with my colleagues. It is our office sponsored annual trip. It is a great place to be either relaxed or adventurous. I choose to be adventurous at day time and be relaxed at night. J They offer Spa, Sauna to air riffle shooting, water Rafting, archery with well qualified coaches. We did all of these and the grounds were breath taking, Surrounded by green vegetation. This is the resort and the grounds from up in hiking trail.

There is a man-made lake using water from nearby river called ‘Kukuleganga’ in native language. It flows.

We can arrange to have our meals at the lake on this kind of local style boats.

This river make a beautiful water fall called ‘Makeli Alla’ in native language. It is situated 8km afar from the hotel. The 10m falls is said to resemble a bride's veil from a distance, and round weather-eroded granite stones pepper the landscape.

The trail down to the falls… about 100 stone steps of 1.5 feet high.

Improving blog purpose and heading as ‘An engineer’s sewing and gardening life’

I love gardening as much as I love sewing. When I lived with my parents I grew lot of plants in our home garden including water lilies and orchids. Then I moved to the Colombo city, capital of our island for higher studies. While in university and early two and half years in work I lived in hostels. So I had no space for gardening. About 3 years ago I bought a eleven and half perch land in suburbs of the capital, with building a little home in mind.  I began designing a house and saving money for the task and began building the home two and half years back. Finally first story was finished with fully furnished bedroom, bathroom and kitchen for my moving in. I moved in march 2012 but could not start gardening because still constructions were going on for furnishing other bed room and living room. Later at about December 2012 all the furnishings inside home finished including my indoor garden.  And I happily started gardening again.

Now I have little collection of plants and I think I should maintain a log about my garden. So I decided to update my blog to ‘An engineer’s sewing and gardening life’ and use it to log the progress I make at garden also.

These days I am planing, planting and maintaining my indoor garden mostly since front fences of the property are not up yet. But I couldn't resist a little bird bath and few plants in front of my front door.

The ‘Nachchimale’ Stream

Our family continues a tradition of our grand parents’ which is an annual arms giving at a Buddhist temple situated in a little forest. We don’t take pictures in the temple out of faithfulness toward privacy of the monks’ living there. This year it was at last weekend. We arrive at evening of day before to the temple and start preparations for cooking. This time we had 16 monks for the arms giving and our assorted family and friends who were there to help. We cooked through Saturday night and prepared breakfast by 4 a.m. with lunch at 10 a.m. since Buddhist monks don’t eat after 12 noon. After preparing food we bath at nearby stream and get ready to go for the arms giving rituals. I took few shots of the stream and wilderness for you J. Stream is very rocky and home to many kinds of native fish and plants.
