Water lilies from my home garden.

I am fascinated from water plants. Mostly water lilies. I wanted to have flowering water lily plants in our garden. So we (me and my siblings) built two ponds for our garden at parental home.

One of them has a blue water lily called “Nil Maanel” in native tongue. This is the national flower of Sri Lanka. It carries my favorite smell I ever felt.

The other has a deep pink water lily which called “Rathu Oolu” in native tongue. This one has peculiar smell but it is very pleasant smell. I like it too.

Sane quilt for a double bed using various square blocks

It was a long time since I last posted. I was busy at both office and educational life. Now again I had a sewing break of two full days J . It was tiring but satisfying. I brought a new bed cover for my bed. So I wanted to make a matching quilt for it. It has large salmon pink flowers with leaves. So I choose fabrics to match these colors and here are those.

Searched web for a easy but beautiful sane quilt design and found
this http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?p=561 and fell love with it. Big thanks for sharing this tutorial free freshlemonsquilts.
I changed measures to match my requirements. My blocks are 12” * 12”. Color and strip combinations also altered. First day was spent to cut fabrics. Second day to sew, sew and sew…. These are some of the blocks

Finished squares are being sewed together…

At last quilt top is finished… and weekend is almost over J

Back from exams – Tea plantation

oooooh exams are over. A big relief but it will be stressing when results about to be out. J
My family is planters from heritage. I am a diversion of course, but I love planting anything. Our main crops are Tea, rubber and paddy. Side crops are coconut, some spices. We do not sell paddy, coconut and spices. They are for food for our families.

Tea and Rubber are main money makers for our family. Even our home is surrounded by tea plantation. This time of year tea bushes are pruned and fresh leaves are coming out. So lush green lands, so beautiful.
